Plastic banned in the Apulian airports: stop to cups, bottles and containers

The company Airports of Puglia, managing the whole airport system in Puglia, re-launches its adherence to the Global Compact of the United Nations, announcing the realization of three new projects for 2020. In the airport stores, biodegradable products will replace plastic cups, bottles, plates and containers.

Specific activities to support waste recycling (composting) will be promoted. Furthermore, historical fountains of the Apulian Aqueduct will be installed at the service of users to raise awareness on the correct consumption of water.

During the first year of commitment to the international initiative on the sustainability, where more than 12.000 organizations in more than 160 countries participated, Airports of Puglia already intensified its action aimed at following the ten fundamental principles related to human rights, working standards, environment protection and fight against corruption.

“The voluntary adhesion to the fundamental principles of the Global Compact, as first Italian company of airport management and among the first in the world – commented the President of AdP Tiziano Onesti – was an important step towards our growth path. We believe that a socially responsible behavior, fully oriented towards the economic, social and environmental sustainability, constitutes an essential value for our company”.
