The work of the Alonissos Underwater Museum won the first prize in the category: "Innovation and digitization in sustainable cultural tourism, towards smart destinations" of the European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN).
The museum, which is described by many as the "Parthenon of shipwrecks" was inaugurated in Greece in August 2020 and was recognized as an example of excellence that inspires other tourist destinations and encourages the further development of sustainable and responsible cultural tourism initiatives. The winners were announced online at the awards ceremony.
ECTN has members in 19 countries, including 13 EU Member States and 6 associated countries. There are 20 full member destination authorities and 9 associate members Institutes, Universities and NGOs.
