The representative of the project partner Ministry of tourism and sport of the Republic of Croatia, Ana Marija Vukčević and external expert dr.sc. Jelena Kljaić Šebrek participated at the 42nd edition of the international tourism fair FITUR, Madrid, Spain from 19th till 21st of January 2022., as part of INHERIT project activities.
It's about project capitalisation activities "Support to the development of sustainable natural heritage tourism activities in the Mediterranean" and "Support to self-regulatory measures for the protection of natural heritage in the Mediterranean".
The event counted more than 600 exhibitors from 70 countries and 111.193 attendees. FITUR is an UNWTO supported international tourism fair and the global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound tourism markets.
FITUR is not only business: the tourism industry is indeed a major driver of the global and local economy but it has the potential to improve the quality of life of communities. FITUR looks for best practices that can have positive effects on communities, groups, and populations. FITUR encompassed technology, the future and sustainability.
The exhibitors and visitors of FITUR were informed about the project results and motivated to initiate similar activities in their areas. The participants attending INHERIT interactive meetings showed great interest for initiating similar sustainable tourism activities. There were 1000 INHERIT leaflets printed and distributes to the exhibitors and visitor of the event.
Five co-exhibitors also presented their offer at the exhibition space of the Croatian National Tourist Board, including the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the Zagreb Tourist Board, as well as HUP - Zagreb Hospitality, Abacus Tour and Hotel Mediteransko Selo San Antonio.
